KNOW THE DIFFERENCE

Scholarship, waiver or payment discount?

Similar-looking reductions can have very different conditions.

A scholarship has a basis

A scholarship may depend on academic performance, a test, an applicant category or other stated criteria. Read who can apply, what evidence is needed and how awards are decided. Being eligible to apply is not the same as receiving an award. In your budget, distinguish a possible benefit from a confirmed amount that the institution has accepted.

A waiver reduces specified charges

A fee waiver may apply to particular components or programme stages, rather than every expense of study. Check continuation and renewal requirements. Some routes require updated documents each year. Ask what happens if the institution cannot verify the evidence or if your circumstances change, so that your budget does not depend on an assumption that may not hold.

A payment concession has a timing trade-off

An upfront-payment discount changes the fee in exchange for a particular payment schedule. Compare the full amount and the deadline, and read the refund terms. Paying earlier can tie up money you may need for other commitments. The right comparison is between two itemised schedules for the same programme, not between a discount headline and an unrelated monthly instalment.

Benefits may not combine

Two benefits appearing on the same website do not prove that you can use both. Ask whether one scholarship can be combined with a payment concession, a grant or financing. Keep the provider’s answer in writing. Coursehunt does not automatically add percentages from different schemes; its calculator uses only the single confirmed reduction you enter.

Track the decision, not just the headline

For each opportunity, note the source, your next question, the document checklist and the confirmation you still need. A scholarship finder can help you locate a route to investigate, but the institution decides eligibility and awards. Apply through the official process and do not send identity or financial documents to this directory.
